we're taking steps to make recycling easier for you and better for the planet
1. move away from single-use plastics
by discontinuing use of plastic pods in 2024, we’re helping to keep more than 40MM pods out of landfills and oceans every day.
2. invest in the most recycled material on Earth
aluminum pods cost us more to make, but as an infinitely recyclable material that also keeps coffee fresher, we think it’s worth it.
3. work to improve community recycling
we work with municipal recycling facilities, who help us better understand ways to ensure that aluminum pods actually get recycled.
Doing your part is easy. We recommend this as the best way to recycle your aluminum pods:
peel
after your pod has cooled, partially peel back the lid
empty
empty the grounds and filter (composting is a great option for both)
recycle
throw empty pods with the lids attached into your recycling bin, or download a postage-paid label and send to us for free recycling.
HINT: Stacking two or three pods together improves recyclability at municipal facilities.

We know that recycling isn’t always convenient, so we’re committed to making it easier for everyone. In addition to working with recycling facilities to ensure aluminum pods are recycled, our free mail-back program is for customers living in communities where curbside recycling is not readily available.

Yes! While only about 5% of plastics make it through the recycling facilities sorting system, aluminum is infinitely recyclable.
Aluminum, unlike plastic, is not porous. Plastic allows light and oxygen to enter through, which diminishes the freshness of the coffee.
The entire aluminum pod is recyclable. Like our old pods, once you brew it, let it cool for a minute, peel the lid, dispose of the grounds and recycle the entire aluminum pod.
Yes. Our pods are made from 20 - 30% recycled aluminum.
