Frequently asked questions
Yes. Cambio Roasters pods work in all Keurig®brewers or any single-serve brewer that uses K-Cups®.
It's easy! Cambio's pods are made from #5 recyclable polypropylene.*
Here's our 3-step process: 1) Allow the pod to cool at least 2 minutes; 2) Using the easy-peel tab, peel the foil lid, gently squeeze the pod and tap the pod on your compost or garbage container to discard grounds; 3) Toss the pod, filter and lid in your recycling bin. There's no need to separate the filter or rinse the pod!
*The ability to recycle K-Cups® is improving nationwide and is now possible in most communities. If you have questions, check with your local recycler to see if they accept #5 plastics.
Cambio Roasters' coffees are always 100% arabica beans and come from the famous coffee regions around the world.
Currently, the donations go to the non-profit Food 4 Farmers, who is renowned for their work keeping farming families fed. Their predominant efforts are in Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico and Nicaragua.
Absolutely! 100% of the coffee in the pods is Arabica. Like your favorite coffee shop, the roasted grind is perfectly crafted for each flavor profile.
There are many ways to deliver a great cup of coffee – like French press, pour over, cold brew and traditional style coffee makers. Ours are perfectly engineered to deliver the best Arabica coffee experience in the ultra convenient Keurig® system.
If you have a Keurig® 2.0 version, it has a "strong" setting. For the rest of the Keurig® line, brew it on the 8 oz setting or less (usually the middle button).
We strive to have the highest organic content as possible while working to keep our pod pricing very accessible. We have fair trade offerings as well, but our primary means of supporting the coffee farmers is by sharing a percentage of our company's profits with them.
Yes, all of Cambio Roasters blends are 100% Arabica.
Coffea Arabica is known as the "mountain coffee." It's believed to be the first species of coffee to be cultivated and represents 60% of global production. It's the primary component of all premium coffees and is grown on small, high-altitude mountain farms around the equator.
Robusta coffee is made from the Coffea Canephora plant, a sturdy species of coffee bean with low acidity and high bitterness. It's primarily used in instant coffee, espresso and as a filler in ground coffee blends. This plant is easy to care for, has a greater yield, almost double the amount of caffeine, and is less susceptible to disease.
Fair trade coffee is coffee that is certified as having been produced within certain standards. Fair-trade organizations create trading partnerships that contribute to sustainable development by offering better trading conditions to coffee bean farmers. Cambio Roasters looks to include fair trade when possible, but is committed to more directly helping farmers with its significant profit sharing program.
Organic coffee is produced without the aid of chemicals, such as pesticides and herbicides. Organic agriculture can strengthen the natural environment's resistance to disease, minimizes soil erosion and helps promote a healthy ecosystem. Birds develop mutually-beneficially relationships with coffee fields, thereby keeping insect populations under control and naturally fertilizing the soil. Cambio Roasters looks to use organic coffees throughout its many blends.
Direct trade is a term used by coffee roasters who buy straight from the growers, cutting out both the traditional middle man buyers and the organizations that control certifications such as fair trade. This is usually done so that the roaster can have more control over things like the quality of the coffee, social issues and environmental concerns.
Coffee comes to us from the origin countries around the world as a bean that is green in color. The degree to which the coffee beans are roasted is one of the most important factors that determine the taste. Coffee roasting transforms the raw beans into the distinctively aromatic, flavorful, crunchy beans that we recognize as coffee.
Light roast coffee is generally the most bright and acidic, and has the lightest body. It also has the most caffeine, surprisingly! Medium roasts possess a balanced flavor with an increased body and more rounded aroma. Dark roast coffee is the most aromatic and usually has more chocolatey and caramel notes with toasty attributes and a full body.
Cambio Roasters uses only the finest coffees in the world, grinds them to perfection and packages them in a pod format that ensures a 9-month shelf life. We recommend storing the pods in a cool, dry place.
